What is Deceit ?
(an act of) keeping the truth hidden, especially to get an advantage.
The Problem
“while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.”
2 Timothy 3:13 ESV
“You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44 ESV
“His mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity.” Psalm 10:7 ESV
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9 ESV
“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.”
Galatians 6:7 ESV
The Promises
The deceiver is always looking for a captive to destroy. The promises of the deceiver will always appear will to be fruitful. But they will yield disaster. But the ways of the Lord are worth discovering and bear lasting fruits because of His faithfulness and goodness.
“For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.”
1 Peter 2:21-22 ESV
“For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit;”
1 Peter 3:10 ESV
