So we always have confidence. We know that while we live in this body, we are away from the Lord. We live by what we believe will happen, not by what we can see. So I say that we have confidence. And we want to be away from this body and be at home with the Lord. Our only goal is always to please the Lord, whether we live here in this body or there with him. We must all stand before Christ to be judged. Everyone will get what they should. They will be paid for whatever they did—good or bad—when they lived in this earthly body.” 2 Corinthians 5:6-10 ‭‭

This afternoon I watched Superbook with my children, the episode of ‘The Miracles of Jesus’. At the beginning of the episode, Chris and Joy are watching a magician perform magic tricks. As I watched, I heard the Holy Spirit whisper this is the familiar spirit that the enemy has used to deceive my children. I straight away ran to my phone and began to type this message.

Our society causes many to function under the influence of familiar spirits unknowingly. These spirits operate undercover in the name of tradition, trend, fashion, lifestyle, and personality traits.

A familiar spirit is any demon assigned that surveys and studies people, territories, and bloodlines of families. Their assignment aims to gather spiritual intelligence that will open doors to instigate death and destruction. They enter and gain power in people’s lives by disguising themselves as something common (familiar) while operating unawares through people, places, and things.

Often, familiar spirits are believed to be the spirits of people who have died (Deut. 18:11). However, biblically, this is not the case. Such appearances are, in actuality, demonic forces imitating people to deceive. We know that people cannot come back from the dead from what Jesus said in Luke 16:19-31 when he gave us the story of Lazarus and the rich man. Familiar spirits attach themselves to you through something or someone you are highly familiar with or comfortable with. But all the while, their plan is unknown to you. A person can willfully form a relationship with a familiar spirit, often simply through ignorance. This is why it’s critical to know what you are inviting into your home and heart. Leviticus 10:10–11 instructs the Levites to teach people the difference between what is holy and what is common. “And you must teach the people about all the laws that the Lord gave them through Moses.” Leviticus‬ ‭10:11‬ ‭ERV‬‬ I pray that you will close your eyes to the natural and open them to the supernatural. No longer walk by sight, but instead walk by faith.
