🗣”And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither. “ 1 SAMUEL 16:11
✒️ None of us likes to be forgotten or thought of as unimportant.
Even though we may deny it and like to be thought of as independent, others’ opinions count to us. We want people to respect our ideas and even seek them out. When there’s an honor to be handed out, we’d like to be considered for it, whether it’s a promotion or an award.
But even King David had a time when he was forgotten. Out watching sheep—a lowly job—David was out of the way. When the prophet Samuel asked Jesse to see his sons, the father forgot his youngest son. Who would imagine this boy as a king? No one in the family saw the promise in the youth who became a successful warrior and ruler.
Just because others don’t see your promise, don’t give up. God sees when others are blinded by their humanity. His wonderful, promise-filled future does not rely on human ideas of your value.
Even if the whole world forgets or ignores you, Jesus doesn’t.
🙏🏾 Lord, thank You for remembering me when the world forgets.
